Ribbon Rewards gives you 1 point per £1 of rent paid (100 points = £1 in vouchers), redeemable at Amazon, Deliveroo, Nike, Nando’s, Eurostar, Avios and 24+ more brands. On a £1,200 monthly rent that’s £144 a year, plus £25 for every friend you refer (they get £25 too). It’s free, there are no credit checks, and your landlord doesn’t need to sign up.

What is rent cashback?

Rent cashback is exactly what it sounds like: earning a percentage of your rent back as rewards, every time you pay.

It works differently from card cashback because rent isn’t a card payment. Most UK landlords and letting agents take rent by bank transfer or standing order — they don’t accept cards, and the ones who do usually charge a fee to cover it.

So rent rewards programmes route the payment instead. With Ribbon, you get a dedicated bank account in your own name, you transfer your rent into it, and Ribbon forwards it to your landlord on your rent date. Points land the moment the payment goes through.

Your landlord sees a normal bank transfer from your named account. Nothing about their side changes.

How much is rent cashback actually worth?

Let’s do the maths properly, because “cashback on rent” sounds vague until you put numbers on it.

With Ribbon, you earn 1 point per £1 of rent, and 100 points = £1 in vouchers.

Monthly rent

Per month

Per year

£800

£8

£96

£1,200

£12

£144

£1,500

£15

£180

£2,000

£20

£240

£2,500

£25

£300

And if you’re renting a Ribbon partner property, the rate goes up to 3 points per £1 — which on a £1,500 rent is up to £540 a year.

Is £144 life-changing? No. But it’s a weekly shop, four Deliveroo orders, or most of a Eurostar ticket — for doing something you were going to do anyway, on the day you were going to do it anyway.

Over a five-year tenancy at £1,200, that’s £720 you’d otherwise never have seen.

Where the money comes from

This is the part everyone wants answered, so let’s not bury it.

Ribbon is free. You never pay a fee. Your landlord never pays a fee. So who funds the rewards?

The brands do. When you redeem points for an Amazon voucher or a Deliveroo credit, that brand pays Ribbon a small commission for bringing them a customer. It’s the same economic model that sits behind credit card cashback and every cashback website you’ve ever used — the retailer pays for the introduction.

If you never redeem, Ribbon earns nothing. Our incentives and yours point the same direction.

Is my rent money safe?

Fair question — you’re routing your largest monthly payment through a company you’ve just heard of.

Your account is in your name. Not a pooled client account, not Ribbon’s balance sheet. It arrives with your landlord as a normal Faster Payment, same day, from an account with your name on it.

What rent cashback is not

Worth being straight about the limits.

It isn’t a discount on your rent. Your landlord still receives the full amount. You’re earning rewards on top, funded by retailers.

It isn’t a credit product. No credit check, no borrowing, no impact on your credit score. If the money isn’t there, nothing is advanced to you.

If you want your rent to build your credit file rather than earn you rewards, that’s a different service — rent reporting — and we’ve written about how the two compare.

Who rent cashback works best for

Anyone renting in London or another high-rent city. The value scales directly with your rent, so the more you pay, the more comes back.

Renters paying by bank transfer or standing order. Which is most of the UK.

People in flatshares — each tenant paying their own share can earn on their own share.

Renters whose landlord will never accept a card. Which is, again, most of the UK. Refer three people over the year — a flatmate, a colleague, the friend who complains about London rent every time you see them — and you’ve added £75 on top. That’s £219 for the year.

There’s no cap on it, and your friend isn’t doing you a favour. The only genuine cost is two minutes of setup.

If you’re paying rent this month and getting nothing back, that’s money left on the table — and it will be again next month.

Start earning at ribbonrewards.io →

Not sure yet? See how it works or read the FAQ.

Ribbon Rewards is a product of Scraye Ltd, registered in England and Wales (company number 12424477).
